A Towee Tale
*Margie Turner sat in her small apartment in Towee, Tennessee, staring at the news article on her computer screen. The story about the Lheidli T'enneh First Nation acquiring urban reserve land in Prince George, British Columbia, should have been of little interest to her. And yet, something about it struck a chord deep within her. As a child, Margie's family had been forcibly removed from their ancestral lands to make way for a new highway. The trauma of that displacement had haunted her for years, leading her down a path of alcohol and drug abuse as she struggled to find her place in the world. The news article triggered memories of that painful past, but it also sparked a glimmer of hope. If the Lheidli T'enneh could reclaim their land, perhaps there was a way for Margie to reclaim her life. Determined to change, Margie reached out to her friend *Hayley, who had recently completed a recovery program. Hayley introduced her to the Stepping Into Action program from Hofman Hollis, a comprehensive approach to addressing the root causes of addiction and building a foundation for a healthier future. Together, Margie and Hayley dove into the program, working through the various modules and exercises. It wasn't easy, but with each step, Margie felt a weight lifting from her shoulders. 'This is just the beginning,' she told Hayley one evening. 'But for the first time in years, I feel like I have a chance.' As Margie and Hayley continued their journey, they sought expert guidance from counselors and therapists. Some praised the Stepping Into Action approach, citing its holistic focus on mind, body, and spirit. Others, however, raised concerns about its efficacy, arguing that traditional treatment methods were more reliable. Despite the conflicting opinions, Margie remained resolute. The program was working for her, and that was what mattered most. 'Everyone has their own path,' she told a skeptical counselor. 'This is mine, and I'm going to walk it to the end.' In the end, Margie's decision to seek help online proved invaluable. While local resources were limited in her small town, the Stepping Into Action program provided her with the tools she needed to confront her past and build a brighter future. It was a difficult journey, but one that ultimately led her to a place of peace and reconciliation within herself.
